Korea Funds AI Field Tests as Platforms Open New Categories | August 12 2026

Korea's sovereign AI model just shipped inside a commercial product, and public facilities are paying startups to test on site.
Three AI and robotics startups received 70 million won each for proof-of-concept work at the KINTEX exhibition center. EastSecurity became the first Korean vendor to embed the state-backed K-EXAONE model in a security product, cutting report generation time more than sixtyfold. The science ministry also launched an autonomous-laboratory consortium of more than 80 organizations, with 49.5 billion won committed through 2028. Fashion platforms W Concept and 29CM posted triple-digit growth in food categories, opening supply openings for consumer startups.
